Scion Esports disbands Overwatch team, players rebrand and relaunch as "Infamous."

In late July several Scion Esports players and managers allegdly became involved in some illegal sharing of practice VODs from Overwatch Contenders competition. This resulted in the disqualification of the Scion team from the August and September seasons of Contenders. The players disputed the charges and still profess their innocence, but Scion management accepted the ruling from Blizzard without official protest.

As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic panic, our parent company’s business was affected to the point where support for esports teams had to be temporarily suspended anyway, so the players had been playing without any support from the franchise for several months.

As a result of this disciplinary action combined with the fact that the players were technically not under contract anyway, Scion management felt it was time to simply disband the team and allow the players the freedom to pursue their careers elsewhere.

The entire team chose to stay together and rebrand themselves as “Infamous” and continue competing in Open Division and Contenders Trials.

Scion management wishes the players the best in their future esports careers.
