More information about the upcoming Scion Esports Decathlon

May 1st is here… and we promised more info, so here it is!

THE GAMES:

There are over 60 esports titles that are eligible for Decathlon points. If a game can be played competitively… it can be in the Decathlon. At CyPhaCon we’re going to have this crucibled down to ten titles… but until then we want teams to be able to play in as much diverse competition as possible. We need your help to do it. If you run an event, reach out to us about how to get Decathlon points awarded for performance in YOUR tournament. It’s free, and it will add some exclusivity and excitement to your event. If you play in a regular tournament, make sure the TO knows to reach out to us about the Decathlon! Here are the titles that we have confirmed events on the schedule for:

This list is sure to grow as more tournament organizers join the Decathlon. If you are a tournament organizer and would like to apply for Decathlon points for your event, click here to apply!

THE SCHEDULE:

Just as the list of titles is sure to grow, so is the schedule of qualifying events. But just to get you started planning your strategy, here are our first round of confirmed Decathlon Events:

  • June 7th - Fortnite Box Tournament 6:00pm

  • June 14th - Pokemon Showdown 6:00pm

  • June 21st - Valorant 6:00pm

  • June 28th - Among Us 6:00pm

  • July 5th - League of Legends 6:00pm

  • July 12th - Rivals of Aether II 6:00pm

Full details on each of these events will be released in the days to come. Consider this a “save the date” announcement for each of these competitions. Platform, prizes, format, and signup information will be available on our Discord. Start.gg will be the primary tournament logistics platform we will be using. As soon as the start.gg Decathlon events are up, we will make them available here and on Discord as well.

These events listed above are “first party” events, meaning Scion Esports will be in charge of producing them. As mentioned above, we are always looking for TO partners who are running their own events to partner with.

THE FORMAT:

We’re going to be delving into a lot more online competition than we normally do for the Decathlon. We are hoping this will encourage maximum engagement from the community. Just because we’re taking the competition online doesn’t mean there won’t be LANs… We are planning more live events this year than we’ve ever done before. Mark your calendars… the first Decathlon Live Major is planned for Saturday, July 26th.

THE BASICS OF FORMING A TEAM:

Decathlon teams consist of up to ten players. There are virtually no rules as to who can be on a team, but if you aren’t willing or able to commute to CyPhaCon 2026 in April, you may hurt your teams chances of winning the gold. Community TOs are welcome to participate on a team, but your team cannot score points in any event you are involved in producing.

Each player on a team can compete in as many or as few events as they would like. Some events will be for individual competitors, others will feature titles for teams of various sizes, which will be subsets of your ten player Decathlon team. For a team to qualify for Decathlon points in an eligible event, all players on the team playing in that event must be on the same Decathlon team. You don’t have to win, you can score Decathlon points just for showing up and playing in an event. But the best points come with quality finishes.

There’s no deadline for forming a team and joining, but the sooner you join, the more chances you will have to score points. When the first event starts on June 7th, registered teams will be scoring points. Don’t get left behind! You can always form a smaller team now and add players later. But once a player has joined a Decathlon team, they are bound to that team for the season!

THE REST OF THE STORY:

We’re going to keep the information flowing for this event. The next big info drop is going to be Monday night, May 12th. This will be in conjunction with the relaunch of season two of our “The Founders” Podcast. It will be on Discord, YouTube, and Twitch. That doesn’t mean we’ll be radio silent until then. Stay tuned to our social channels and our website in the meantime for more intel.
